I can only read about it, but it seems between JFK's assassination and the Beatles touchdown in the US our country changed. This is maybe a silly example but how many men wore hats all the time after '64? Or wore suits while at home. Or at least all day Sunday.
If not, what was the pivot point from the prevailing 50s culture to the 60s?

Well, I lived thru it as an impressionable 12 yr old, so I can give one perspective.

Contrary to your post, this was about the time men began losing their hats and women began wearing more pants. The Donna Reed Show was a patent lie - American families did not look like hers, although we still dressed nice for church. It was a time of rapid and definitive change. Musically - away from doo-wop and crooners like Bobby Vinton, towards a whole new scene with Bob Dylan, Peter Paul Mary and Joan Baez leading the folk charge, The Beatles and Stones on a British invasion, Motown coming on strong with the Supremes and Four Tops, and Beach Boys riding the surf.

You're correct to note a pivot point - the assassination of our first Catholic president in 63 shocked the nation deeply, the escalation of the Vietnam war, ML King's March and subsequent Nobel Prize in 64, LBJ's Great Society, the Women's Liberation movement... these things mark a country and society in great and rapid change. Protest was only a baby step further.

I just heard back from Fred. It seems you are one of the Deadhookers who "disappeared". I was another one who lost everything in the crash. Email me(@ "my deadhook log-in" at gmail dot com) the email address that you used to register and maybe your info can be rescued. Otherwise you will have to re-register.
